King Felipe VI will present the National Prize for Sociology and Political Science to Carlota Solé and Rafael Pardo as a reward for the contribution and scientific work of the winners in the field of Sociology or Political Science, demonstrated through their careers. professional or in recognition of a singular work. Winner of the 2023 edition. Doña Carlota Solé i Puig. Carlota Solé graduated in Economic Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 1961 and from the University of Bilbao in 1967, she has a doctorate in Sociology from the University of Reading (United Kingdom) since 1982 and a doctorate in Economic Sciences from the UAB since 1975. He has taught at both the UAB and the Complutense University of Madrid, at the Higher School of Business Administration and Management (ESADE) and at various foreign universities, such as the University of Reading or the Istituto Universitario di Studi Europei in Turin. In 1995 she was awarded the Mary Parker Follet Award from the American Political Science Association for her article "Language and the Construction of States: the Case of Catalonia in Spain" . Between 1994 and 2015 he directed the sociology magazine Papers and since 2022.   The King presents the Award to Carlota Solé   Awardee of the 2022 edition. Rafael Pardo Avellaneda. The professor of Sociology at the Public University of Navarra and director of the BBVA Foundation, Rafael Pardo Avellaneda, was awarded the 2022 National Prize for Sociology and Political Science, awarded by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS). The researcher has an academic and professional career of more than 40 years focused on scientific culture and the comparative study of the attitudes of different societies towards science. As a researcher at the Institute of Economics, Geography and Demography of the CSIC, he has also studied other topics such as the social dimensions of artificial intelligence and business organizations and innovation. 'The emotional construction of the extreme right in Spain' obtains the CEA-APQ Quality Seal Monographs

This book, whose authors are Paloma Castro Martínez and Erika Jaráiz Gulías , published in 2022 by the CIS Sociological Research Center, has obtained the CEA-APQ Academic Edition Quality Seal in the first call as a new recognition of quality for scientific research. . In this first call, a total of thirty-five individual monographs have been awarded, belonging to thirteen prestigious university and scientific publishers, after passing a demanding evaluation process. This book published by the CIS meets the nine requirements demanded by the CEA-APQ Seal in terms of quality and information transparency (identification of the monograph, electronic availability and inclusion of metadata), quality of the editorial policy (availability of a scientific or editorial committee and editorial policy of the publishing entity) and quality of the editorial and scientific evaluation process (instructions for the submission of manuscripts, information on the manuscript selection process, external evaluation reports and motivated communication of the resolution of the publication of the construction site). The commissions in charge of the evaluation have been integrated, in the case of the Area of Social and Legal Sciences it has been constituted by María Ángeles Egusquiza Balmaseda, professor of Civil Law at the Public University of Navarra; Pablo Meira Cartea, professor of Theory and History of Education at the University of Santiago de Compostela; Ana Isabel González, professor at the School of Financial and Tax Law at the University of Oviedo; and Lluís Pastor, professor of Communication Sciences at the Open University of Catalonia. The CIS has carried out a survey on democratic habits in Spain and how citizens perceive democracy, our political system and whether they are happy or not with it, among other issues. 89.8% of the people surveyed agree that political parties have the obligation to reach consensus on important issues that affect citizens. Only 7.4% think otherwise. When asked about some issues that have become news due to the lack of agreements between parties, 87.7% assure that it is “very or quite important” that the PSOE and the PP reach an agreement on the renewal of the General Council of the Power of attorney. 91.4% think the same about the fight against gender violence and 93.3% believe that it is “very or quite important” that they agree on fair taxation. Crispation and interest in politics 88.9% of those surveyed believe that there is “a lot or a lot” of political tension in our country. Furthermore, 80.8% are “very or quite” concerned that there is this tension, and 87.7% believe that it is “very or quite important” to reduce tension at the moment in Spain. 58.9% of Spaniards say that politics interests them “a lot or quite a lot”, while 37.3% are interested “little or not at all”. The Center for Sociological Research has carried out the monthly barometer for January with the usual questions such as the evaluation of leaders and ministers, vote estimation, the problems that most affect Spaniards and questions about international news, among other issues. Regarding the estimated vote in the month of January, the PSOE reaches 34% of the votes, the PP 32.1%, SUMAR is in third position with 9.7% and VOX obtains 8.3%. . Prime Minister Preference Regarding preferences as President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez is the favorite for 30.4% of Spaniards, almost 14 points behind Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who is the favorite for 16.5%. The Center for Sociological Research has carried out a survey about perceptions about equality between men and women, and about gender stereotypes. The survey shows that 44.1% of men “very or somewhat agree” that “we have come so far in promoting women's equality that men are now being discriminated against”, something they think also 32.5% of women. Women in the world of work When asking about some aspects such as salaries, promotion at work or access to positions of responsibility in companies, the difference in opinions between both sexes is notable. When it comes to reconciling work and family life, 72.5% of women say that they have it worse, and 58.5% of men say that women are the disadvantaged when it comes to combining both activities. 78.1% of women agree with the statement "women have to work harder than men to prove that they can perform the same job." This percentage drops 26 points when we ask men, 51. 8% agree and 46.3% deny that this is the case. Regarding the statement “a woman with an active sexual life is criticized more than a man,” 87.2% of women agree with this and 76.2% of men as well. When talking about compliments, 49.5% of men believe that “it is always nice to receive one”, and the figure drops to 35.7% when asking women, in fact, 60.5% of them are in against this statement. Furthermore, 83.5% of the female population affirms that “most pornography is sexist”, a thesis that men also support, but to a lesser extent (77.6%). Stereotypes For 66.5% of the population, watching pornography is more typical of men than women, the same goes for paying to have sexual relations: 84.9% of those surveyed affirm that it is more typical of the male sex. On the other hand, 55.6% of those surveyed indicate that talking openly about feelings is more typical of women. There is a coincidence of opinions about taking the initiative in a sexual relationship, 71.6% of Spaniards believe that it is appropriate for both sexes equally. Over the last 12 months 49.2% of men have heard sexist comments from friends or family, the figure is similar among women (45.6%). 13.8% of women claim to have witnessed a man sexually harassing a woman and 8.1% of men as well. Regarding discrimination based on sex at work, 9.7% of women claim to have witnessed it and 5.4% of men also claim to have witnessed it. The distribution of care and tasks On a workday, women spend more time on household chores (cleaning, cooking, shopping...) than men, they spend 172 minutes (almost 3 hours) on average per day and they spend 126.76 minutes (2 hours) on average. . But when asking about childcare during a workday, the distance between both sexes increases, while women dedicate 412.25 minutes (6.7 hours) to their children, they spend about 228.88 minutes (3.7 hours) ) of his time. When asking about caring for dependent people, the time is equal, although women spend more time (364.69 minutes, about 6 hours) and men 314.11 minutes (about 5 hours).
