Following an agreement between the ICO (Instituto de Crédito Oficial) and the CIS (Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas), the CIS will prepare the Consumer Confidence Indicator as of November. The Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) will, as of this month, prepare Spain's Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI). This indicator was designed and launched by the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) in September 2004 and this latter institution has, since then, been responsible for preparing it and its monthly publication. The agreement signed by the President of the ICO, José María Ayala Vargas, and CIS President, Ramón Ramos Torre, ensures that the CCI will be maintained, guaranteeing the continuity of the historical series, its methodological rigour and the proven quality of the data it provides. As of November, it will be the CIS that will conduct the monthly survey, calculating the results, maintaining the methodology with which the CCI has been calculated since the series started and making the results available to all interested parties, as it does with all its studies. The CCI offers a monthly assessment of the recent evolution and outlooks of Spanish consumers regarding the Spanish economy, their family economy and employment, in order to forecast their consumption decisions. In December, the index for November, together with those corresponding to the months of July, August, September and October will be available on the CIS website (www.cis.es). The media will be advised of their publication sufficiently in advance.

The data comes from the "Survey on sporting habits in Spain 2010" "The number of Spaniards who practice sports is growing" 43% of Spaniards practice sports according to the data collected in the publication "Democratic ideal and personal well-being: Survey on sporting habits in Spain 2010", co-edited by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) and the Higher Sports Council (CSD). ). Madrid, November 11, 2011. - The percentage of Spanish men and women between 15 and 75 years old who practice sports has gone from 37% to 43% between 2005 and 2010, according to the publication "Democratic ideal and personal well-being", co-published recently by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) and the Higher Sports Council (CSD). This research, whose central axis is the Study on sporting habits in Spain 2010, carried out by the CIS at the request of the CSD, offers an authentic x-ray of the practice of sport in our country, analyzing its evolution over the last 30 years. The magnificent research work, directed by the professor of sociology at the University of Valencia Manuel García Ferrando , and in which the doctor in sociology Ramón Llopis Goig , from the same university, also participates, shows, among other conclusions, the fact that Sport is carried out in our country in an increasingly deinstitutionalized way and with a gradual decrease in the competitive purpose. Likewise, more and more citizens practice it in open spaces and more and more people attach greater importance to sport and physical education. The work analyzes how this practice is carried out by age groups, or based on gender, and what sports items can be found in Spanish homes, in addition to offering information on which sports are most practiced, the degree of use of the facilities sports or how we are proud of the successes of Spanish sports and to what extent these triumphs influence society. In the same way, it studies the monitoring of sporting life through the media or how sports practice contributes to the social and cultural integration of immigrants in Spain.

The data comes from the survey entitled “Encuesta sobre hábitos deportivos en España 2010” “The number of Spaniards practising sports is growing” 43% of Spaniards regularly take part in sport, according to the figures shown in “Ideal democrático y bienestar personal: Encuesta sobre los hábitos deportivos en España 2010”, a joint publication by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) and the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD). Madrid, November 2011 .- The percentage of Spanish men and women between the ages of 15 and 75 who play sport went from 37% to 43% between 2005 and 2010, according to the publication “Ideal democrático y bienestar personal”, jointly published by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) and the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD). This research, centred on a survey of sports habits in Spain carried out by the CIS at the request of the CSD, offers a true picture of the practice of sport in this country and examines how it has evolved over the last 30 years. This magnificent research project, led by the senior lecturer in sociology from the Universidad de Valencia, Manuel García Ferrando, with the participation of Ramón Llopis Goig, a doctor in sociology at the same university, reaches the conclusions that sport in Spain is practised in an increasingly deinstitutionalised manner, and the tendency to compete is gradually falling. Likewise, more and more members of the public are doing sports in open spaces, with an increasing number of those who regard sport and physical education as important. The work analyses the practice of sport by age group and gender, examines which sports equipment is found in Spanish households, and offers information about which are the most popular sports and the level of use of sports facilities, as well as looking at the pride that is felt at Spanish sporting achievements and the degree to which these successes influence society. It also studies how sport is followed in the media and how involvement in sport contributes to the social and cultural integration of immigrants in Spain.

Edited by José Ramón Montero and Ignacio Lago, over twenty experts took part in the study. The presentation event will take place next Thursday, 10 November, at the Colegio Oficial de Politólogos y Sociólogos de Madrid (c/ Ferraz, 100), at 19:00. It will be attended by the President of the CIS, Ramón Ramos Torre, the editor of the work, José Ramón Montero, and the senior lecturers in political science Julián Santamaría (Universidad Complutense) and Mariano Torcal (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), together with the Dean of the College, Lorenzo Navarrete. Madrid, 8 November.- The Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) is to present its recent publication Elecciones Generales 2008, a work which looks at the parliamentary general elections held in Spain in March 2008. Taking CIS surveys as a source of information, its various chapters examine issues such as the election campaign, voter turnout and the use of the Internet. The work likewise studies both the impact of the so-called crispación (tense, confrontational atmosphere) on voting and the effect of the electoral debates, including the scope of tactical voting and the influence of religion, ideology or nationalism, among other aspects. It also considers the importance of the political leaders and the characteristics of the party system, in addition to addressing the special case of the regional elections in Andalusia, which were held simultaneously. The authors, who are experts at renowned universities and research centres, combine sophisticated analysis using advanced statistical techniques with a use of language that is accessible to non-specialist readers. All of this makes this book essential reading for gaining an awareness of what is happening in political life in Spain today.
