El jurado, nombrado por la UNE, ha considerado a la colección del CIS como la "más importante de metodología sociológica en el mundo hispánico". El Presidente del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS), Ramón Ramos, recogió el pasado 11 de noviembre el premio concedido a la colección "Cuadernos Metodológicos", editada por el CIS, durante la ceremonia de los XIII Premios Nacionales de Edición Universitaria. El acto contó también con la asistencia de la Directora del Departamento de Publicaciones y Fomento de la Investigación del citado organismo, Paloma Aguilar. Un jurado independiente, nombrado por la Unión de Editoriales Universitarias Españolas (UNE), ha concedido el premio en la categoría "Mejor colección" a los "Cuadernos Metodológicos" del CIS por considerarla como la "más importante de metodología sociológica en el mundo hispánico" y porque "la solvencia de los autores y la extensa relación de títulos publicados la han convertido en una colección de referencia en la formación de sociólogos en el ámbito hispánico". La colección constituye un apoyo imprescindible a la investigación social en lengua española, contribuyendo a su rigor metodológico y científico mediante la difusión de breves monografías sobre técnicas investigación y análisis de datos. Sus títulos son demandados por investigadores noveles, estudiantes de posgrado, estudiantes avanzados de licenciatura y, naturalmente, cualquier investigador que desee introducirse en una nueva herramienta de investigación o de análisis. Los "Cuadernos" tienen una importante dimensión de autoaprendizaje y también constituyen una herramienta imprescindible en la docencia universitaria, en cuyos programas figuran de forma habitual. De los 45 títulos publicados desde su inicio, en 1991, siete de ellos componen la lista de los diez libros más vendidos en toda la trayectoria editorial del CIS. El conjunto de la obra forma una colección coherente aún manteniendo un considerable pluralismo metodológico. La línea editorial de la colección cubre tres áreas fundamentales: la investigación mediante encuestas, las técnicas de análisis estadístico de datos y la recogida y análisis de datos cualitativos.

Today, 2 November 2010, the panel of judges who award the National Award for Sociology and Political Science have met and deliberated. The panel of judges is comprised of the president of the CIS, Ramón Ramos, the Euro MP and former president of the CIS, Pilar del Castillo, the President of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans and National Award for Sociology and Political Science 2006 Salvador Giner, The President of the Federación Española de Sociología Teresa González de la Fé, professor and member of the Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas Emilio Lamo de Espinosa and professor from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and former president of the CIS Fernando Vallespín. The judges have unanimously awarded the prize to Professor of Sociology D. Carlos Moya Valgañón, highlighting the award winner's role in promoting, developing and consolidating sociology in Spanish universities and particularly underlining his impact on the development of sociological theory, the sociology of elites and socio-historical studies. Carlos Moya (Cordoba, 1936) is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the UNED (Spanish National University for Distance Education) , a graduate of Law, he studied sociology in Cologne (Germany), with René König. The driving force behind the development of sociological theory in Spain, he is the author of numerous publications and has directed empirical research projects on strategic dimensions of Spanish society: Public Bureaucracy, Economic Power Elites, Medical Class and Health, the UNED as a University of the Masses, Family and Youth. The books he has published include: Sociólogos y Sociología (1970);Teoría Sociológica: Una introducción crítica (1971); Burocracia y sociedad industrial (1972); El poder económico en España: 1939-1972 (1975); De la ciudad y su razón.
