The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, was in charge of closing these sessions and thanked the president of the Institution, José Félix Tezanos, for the invitation. Redondo highlighted that "this type of sessions helps society a lot, because the diagnosis made by the CIS on perceptions of equality is absolutely relevant for raising awareness and then being able to make political decisions." "It worries me that there are 44% of men who believe that things have gone too far in matters of equality," the Minister of Equality emphasized. She also added that "machismo is a culture that is very difficult to overcome, but we must celebrate that the law against gender violence is already 20 years old" although —the minister insisted— "it is evident that progress is slow."     Lastly, Ana Redondo stated that "this government is firmly committed to equality, hence this first Parity and Equal Presence Bill. This democracy needs equality in order to move forward." The president of the CIS highlighted the effort made by the minister to attend these sessions on Gender Sociology and emphasized the power of words: "being minister of equality, the concept itself has great political significance and great beauty." During today's session, the debate focused on the 'Reality of young women in Spain', a panel moderated by associate professor Sara García, in which Sociology professor Verónica Díaz, associate professor Eva Sotomayor, professor Inmaculada Pastor, and social work professor Laura Ponce participated. This panel addressed topics such as "the emancipation of young women" or "the labor market for women".   Access to the image gallery of the Sessions
