The CIS analyzes the social and institutional changes that the pandemic is causing The CIS organizes the conference "Towards new horizons and social experiences? Social and institutional changes influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic" at the Círculo de Bellas Artes. The meeting will be attended by 36 experts and professors of recognized prestige in the field of Sociology and other disciplines, such as Inés Alberdi, Adela Cortina, Yolanda Gómez or Daniel Innenarity. The sessions will be coordinated by the President of the CIS, José Félix Tezanos. Madrid, July 16, 2021 . Next week, the Sociological Research Center is organizing study sessions at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, which will analyze the pandemic and the changes it has caused in different areas of society, social relationships, mental health, customs, work, leisure, etc. The meeting "Towards new horizons and social experiences? Social and institutional changes influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic" will be led by the President of the CIS and Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the UNED, José Félix Tezanos . The conference will be attended by experts and professors of recognized prestige in the field of Sociology and other social and humanistic disciplines, such as the National Sociology Prize winner, Inés Alberdi , the Emeritus Professor of Ethics, Adela Cortina , and the Professor of Political and Social Philosophy, Daniel Innenarity , the President of the Center for Political and Constitutional Studies, Yolanda Gómez , and the Professor of Economic Policy and President of the CES, Antón Costas , among many others. The conference is based on an ambitious research program that has allowed us to analyze the pulse of public opinion since March 2020 through a total of twenty-four rigorous surveys , as well as seven Delphi Studies among specialists in seven crucial subjects. The meeting will be divided into nine blocks: Social impacts of COVID-19; Generations and families in the face of COVID-19; New dilemmas and social relations in times of pandemic; Behaviors and emotions regarding COVID-19; New work and leisure patterns; COVID-19 and its effects on Politics, the State and the world order; Uncertainties and new ethical and thinking approaches in times of pandemic; Economic impacts of COVID-19; and The challenges of biology and biomedicine, and of physical and mental health in the face of the pandemic. The first block of conferences "Social impacts of COVID-19" will take place on Monday, July 19 at 9:30 a.m. and will feature three presidents of the CIS on the platform . The current one, José Félix Tezanos and his predecessors, both professors of Sociology, Félix Requena and Cristóbal Torres . Young people are considered "second category citizens" in terms of opportunities and rights, according to 54.2% of Spaniards The CIS has carried out a survey on "Childhood and youth in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic" that highlights the inequalities and problems faced by young people in Spain. 73.2% believe that "the new generations are going to live worse than their parents in general" after the pandemic. Madrid, July 15, 2021 . Today the CIS publishes its survey on "Childhood and youth in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic" which highlights the inequalities and problems faced by young Spaniards. 54.2% of Spaniards believe that young people are considered "second-class citizens with worse positions and opportunities" compared to parents and older people. Of those who believe that young people are second-class citizens, 47.4% believe that it is "due to a lack of job opportunities, stable and quality jobs" and 15.9% attribute it to the fact that "they are not given opportunities." . Spaniards believe that the future of young people has become more difficult with the pandemic. Currently , 73.2% believe that "the new generations are going to live worse than their parents in general" , while before the pandemic it was 48.9%. 82% estimate that public administrations "are not doing enough at this time to support and help young people." Of these, 49.4% believe that we should "offer more help to find employment" and 47.3% maintain that we must "improve working conditions, the situation of interns, etc." Regarding the attitude of young people during the pandemic, 67% agree little or not at all that "youth have only thought about making bottles" and 84.4% applaud how the majority of young people "have followed the anticovid protocols." in schools, institutes and universities: with correct use of the mask, hand washing, quarantines, etc." Regarding child poverty , 96.9% of Spaniards believe that one of the measures that should be taken to tackle this problem would be to "promote the employability of their parents", 95.5% say that it would be necessary to "provide support additional educational support to children who need it" and 94.1% highlight the need to "provide more lunch scholarships for families with few economic resources." The Consumer Confidence Index reaches 97.5 points and is at pre-pandemic levels The CCI for the month of June rises to 97.5 points, which represents 8.5 points more than the previous month. This is the best figure since June 2019, when the CCI stood at 102.3 points. Madrid, July 5, 2021 . Consumer confidence rises significantly in the month of June according to the monthly index of the Center for Sociological Research. The CCI reaches 97.5 points, a significant improvement compared to the 89 in May. This increase is due to the improvement in the assessment of the current situation, which is 13.5 points more than the month of May, and to the assessment of expectations, which also increases by 3.6 points. The Expectations Index for this month of June is 119.1 points, which represents an increase of 3.6 points compared to the previous month. This improvement is due to the evolution of its three components: the assessment of the evolution of the economy in the immediate future rises to 123.5 points, the assessment of the future of the labor market rises in the month of June to 121.7 and the future evolution of the household situation remains practically the same, with 112 points in the month of June. It should also be noted that the CCI for June (97.5 points) is the best data in the last year , since in June of last year the index stood at 60.7 points, 36.8 points less. The Consumer Confidence Index reaches 89 points and is above pre-pandemic levels The CCI for the month of May rises to 89 points, which represents 11.2 points more than the previous month's figure and 36.1 points more than a year ago. This is the best figure since May 2020, the date on which the index stood at 52.9 points. Madrid, June 4, 2021 . Consumer confidence rises in the month of May according to the monthly report from the Center for Sociological Research. The CCI reaches 89 points, an improvement compared to the 77.8 in April. This increase is due to the increase of 14.3 points in the assessment of the current situation, and to the rise in expectations, which also increased by 8.1 points. (Figure 1.1). The Expectations Index for this month of May is 115.5 points, which represents an increase of 8.1 points compared to the previous month . This improvement is due to the evolution of its three components: the assessment of the evolution of the economy in the immediate future rises to 115.9 points, the assessment of the future of the labor market rises in the month of May to 118.4 , and the future evolution of the household situation is valued 1.7 points higher than the last month, obtaining 112.2 points. It should also be noted that the CCI for May 2021 (89 points) provides the best data since May 2020 , the date on which the index stood at 52.9 points. This CIS study is based on a representative sample of the Spanish population with 2,781 interviews carried out between May 18 and 21. *Figures are rounded to one digit.
