The functions of the Advisory Council will be as follows:

  • Provide advice on the center's research projects and work programs.
  • To be informed of the scientific activities carried out by the Center for Sociological Research, to be familiar with the reports prepared by each Department, and, where appropriate, to submit proposals related to said activities.
  • Provide advice on all matters submitted to it by its President, on his own initiative or on behalf of the various public authorities, related to the center's scope of activities.

Current composition of the Advisory Board:

  • Mr. José Félix Tezanos Tortajada, President of the Advisory Board.
  • Ms. Maria Asunción Garzón Martínez, Secretary of the Advisory Council.

Professors or full professors of the University proposed by the Council of Universities:

  • Ms. Luisa Carlota Solé Puig, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Winner of the National Sociology Prize.
  • Ms. Marina Subirats Martori, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
  • Mr. Juan Díez Nicolás, Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Former Director of the CIS. Winner of the National Sociology Award.
  • Mr. Pablo Oñate Rubalcaba, Professor of Political Science and Administration at the University of Valencia. President of the International Political Science Association (IPSA).
  • Mr. Manuel Villoria Mendieta, Professor of Political Science and Administration at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid.

People of recognized prestige in the field of social sciences, appointed at the initiative of the Presidency of the Center for Sociological Research:

  • Ms. Inés Alberdi Alonso, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Winner of the National Sociology Award.
  • Mr. Manuel Castells Oliván, Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Winner of the National Sociology Award.
  • Ms. Lucila Finkel Morgenstern, Professor of Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Vice President of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (FES).
  • Ms. Almudena Moreno Mínguez, Professor of Sociology at the University of Valladolid.
  • Ms. Constanza Tobío Soler, Professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid. National Sociology Award winner.
  • Mr. Oriol Bartomeus Bayés, Director of the Institute of Political and Social Sciences (ICPS). Autonomous University of Barcelona.

The following will attend the meetings of the Advisory Council, with voice but without vote:

  • One representative from the National Institute of Statistics and another from the Higher Council for Scientific Research, appointed by the presidents of the respective organizations.
  • The heads of the Departments of the Center for Sociological Research, as well as the rest of the organization's staff who are convened by the person holding the Presidency of the center.
