Spanish translation of "Social Movements", by Donatella della Porta and Mario Diani Madrid, March 16: The presentation of the book "The Social Movements" by Donatella Della Porta and Mario Diani, will take place on March 21 , at 7:00 p.m. , at the Marqués de Valdecilla Historical Library (c/ Noviciado, 3 Madrid). This event will be attended by the president of the CIS, Félix Requena; the general director of Editorial Complutense, José Antonio Nieto; the author of the work, Donatella della Porta; the translator and author of the prologue and epilogue, Eduardo Romanos; as well as professor Enrique Gil Calvo and UCM professor Susana Aguilar. This publication, co-edited by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) and the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), within the Social Debate collection, constitutes, without a doubt, a classic in the approach to the phenomenon of collective action from an integrative perspective. . The work of Donatella della Porta and Mario Diani continues to be an obligatory reference for researchers, as well as an essential study for those seeking to approach for the first time the dizzying and complex reality of social movements: from the protests of the 60s to the most recent feminist, pacifist, environmentalist or anti-globalization movements. Donatella della Porta is a professor of Sociology at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence. Author of numerous publications, among the latest projects she has directed are DEMOS, financed by the Sixth Framework Program of the European Union, and the currently under development Mobilizing for democracy, which has earned one of the prestigious European Research Council Advanced Grants. Although specialized in social movements, its scientific production covers other issues, such as the methods and approaches of social sciences, political parties, corruption and local politics. In 2011 he received the prestigious Dogan Prize in European Political Sociology awarded by the Mattei Dogan Foundation and the European Consortium for Political Research. Mario Diani has been an ICREA professor at the Pompeu Fabra University since September 2010 and until then he was a professor of Sociology at the University of Trento. His most recent research focuses on the study of social movements and the structure of civil society in British cities. Among his works stands out Social Movements and Networks (with Doug McAdam, 2003). Eduardo Romanos is a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid and a doctor in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute of Florence. His main areas of research are political sociology, historical sociology and the history of political ideas, with special interest in social movements and protest.
