Los procesos electorales autonómicos de 2015 y 2016 registraron un cambio electoral de profundo calado, tanto en la oferta como en la demanda: cambios en los partidos tradicionales y emergencia de nuevos partidos ,como Podemos y Ciudadanos, que irrumpieron en las distintas arenas políticas autonómicas, logrando un notable apoyo electoral y transformando significativamente las dinámicas en las respectivas Cámaras parlamentarias. Las crisis económica y política alteraron sustancialmente las pautas del comportamiento electoral de buena parte de la población, surgiendo nuevos factores del voto que se sumaron a los que tradicionalmente lo habían articulado. Estos procesos electorales registraron, así, pautas de continuidad y de cambio, que posteriormente irían consolidándose en otros procesos electorales, modificando sustancialmente la democracia española.
