The CIS validates the procedures and the quality and representativeness of its surveys The institution has carried out 4 comparative studies (monthly barometers and the CCI for June and July) with the company Sigma Dos, which shows practically identical data. Madrid, October 5, 2021 . The CIS has validated the procedures and quality of its telephone surveys through 4 comparative studies; the barometers and the Consumer Confidence Indices for June and July. The Institution implemented the CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) system for telephone interviews in June 2020 due to the impossibility of carrying out personal surveys during the pandemic for health reasons. A very common system in Spain for public opinion research, essentially for reasons of speed and reliability in data collection. The CIS has verified that, using the same sample size -about 4,000 interviews-, with identical sample designs and the same questionnaires, the CIS CATI system is aligned with the standards of the private population survey companies that work with this same system. The comparative analysis of the barometers and CCI for June and July prepared by the CIS and those carried out by Sigma Dos, show practically identical data in the vast majority of the questions in the surveys that have been compared. It is the result of carrying out studies with maximum rigor and with high quality standards throughout the process, from the design of the questionnaire to the random selection of the people interviewed and the obtaining of data. Research centers that follow rigorous survey procedures routinely run "mirror surveys" (parallel) as a form of quality control of study-related activities. A mirror survey is one that is carried out in parallel to the one regularly carried out by the institution, which is entrusted to an external company without any connection with the entity and which replicates exactly the study carried out by the institution with the same questionnaire and with the same methodology. . For this reason, the CIS put out to public tender the execution of 4 studies parallel to the barometers and the Consumer Confidence Indices for June and July, which were awarded to Sigma Dos. The technical characteristics of all CIS studies, such as the data exploitation carried out, as well as the data matrices, are available to anyone who wishes to work in greater depth using all the data available on the CIS website, which They are open access to all people. You can access these surveys, included under code 11001, from the CIS website by 'Latest studies'. For any questions, the Communication telephone number is 91 580 76 25.
