The ICC improves 12.5 points in the last 6 months
- The Consumer Confidence Index stands at 73 points

- The assessment of future expectations reaches 83.1 points this April
Madrid, May 19, 2023 . Consumer confidence stands at 73 points in the month of April, which represents 5.5 points more than the figure for the month of March. This increase is due to the rise in two of its components: the assessment of the current situation and the assessment of future expectations. The ICC valuation reflects an improvement of 12.5 points in the last six months, since last November it stood at 60.5 points.
The assessment index of the current situation reached 62.8 points in April, a figure that represents an increase of 8 points compared to the month of March. This increase is due to the evolution of the assessments of its three components: the assessment of the current economic situation rises 9.1 points compared to the month of March, standing at 48.6 points; the assessment of the situation of households that grows 6.5 points, reaching 68.2 points and the assessment of the labor market that improves 8.5 points, reaching 71.6 points.
The expectations index reaches 83.1 points this April, which represents an increase of 3 points compared to the month of March. This increase is due to the positive evolution of all its components: the assessment of the evolution of the economy in the immediate future, which has an improvement of 5 points, reaching 73.9 points; the assessment of the future situation of households that reaches 95.9 points, which represents an increase of 3.1 points compared to the month of March and the expectations about the future of the labor market that grow in this month of April up to 79.5 points, gaining almost one point compared to the previous month.
The CIS ICC data is based on a representative sample of 2,792 interviews conducted between April 27 and 29, 2023.
