Descripción
La transición chilena a la democracia presenta aparentemente para cualquier observador una serie de paradojas importantes. Por ejemplo, el hecho de que un dictador paradigmático para las democracias occidentales como el General Pinochet, convoque unas elecciones más o menos libres, de las que sale derrotado. O el hecho mismo de que se instaurase una constitución que establecía un plazo al ejercicio del poder por parte de éste. No basta con apelar exclusivamente a la soberbia del dictador, en especial cuando pierde, negocia y se retira. Hay que recordar que el plebiscito de octubre de 1988, sobre la continuidad o no del entonces Presidente Pinochet no consiste exclusivamente en una "noticia", de algo que sucede repentinamente e invade los medios de comunicación. Existió todo un proceso que provocó la pérdida de la democracia en Chile.
