El CIS convoca anualmente ayudas con el fin de promocionar y estimular la investigación social aplicada en materias de interés para el organismo. Estas ayudas a la investigación están destinadas fundamentalmente a la explotación de su Banco de Datos y a la finalización de tesis doctorales en Ciencia Política o Sociología. Estas becas tienen como finalidad apoyar proyectos tanto individuales como de equipos de investigación. Se trata de 8 ayudas para la explotación del Banco de Datos, la individual dotada de 6.000 euros y para equipos investigadores de 10.000 euros. Además, hay dos ayudas para la finalización de tesis doctorales de 5.000 euros.
