Tuesday, November 4, 2014 . This year's National Prize for Sociology and Political Science has been awarded to Víctor Pérez-Díaz. This Award is a recognition of contribution and scientific work in the field of Sociology or Political Science and is awarded for a professional career or a singular work.
Víctor Pérez Díaz (Madrid, 1938) has a Doctor in Sociology from Harvard University, and a Doctor in Law and a Doctor in Political Science from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which brings together American and foreign academics, and includes 170 Nobel Prize winners; and member of the Academia Europaea, based in London.
His teaching experience includes Professor of Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (1979/2009) as well as Visiting Professor at Harvard University, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the University of California (San Diego), New York University, and the New School for Social Research in New York.
He is President of Socio-Political Analysts, Cabinet of Studies, a social science research center founded in 1993, dedicated to studies of economic, political and cultural sociology in Spain and other countries, especially in Europe.
He has also been a Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, Professor at the Berlin Center for Social Studies (Wissenschaftzentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung) and the Institute of Political Sciences in Paris, and Associate Director at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He has been a member of the Committee on Western Europe of the Social Science Research Council of New York, and a Member of several Expert Groups of the European Commission on social and technology policy issues.
He is the author of more than fifty books, including those published by Harvard University Press, as well as by MacMillan, Garland Publishers, and Berghahn Publishers; the latest of which is Markets and Civil Society, published by Berghahn in 2009.
The winner has been recognized for an impeccable scientific career, for the conceptual rigor of his studies in the field of empirical sociology, his public collaboration and its application to analysis in Public Administrations, as well as the promotion of an emerging group of eminent sociologists. in different institutions.
The jury was made up of the president of the CIS Félix Requena, the European parliamentarian and former president of the CIS Pilar del Castillo, the professor of sociology at the National University of Distance Education Luis J. Garrido Medina, the professor of political science at the University National Distance Education Carmen González Enríquez, the professor of political science at the University of the Basque Country Francisco J. Llera Ramo, the professor of sociology at the Autonomous University of Madrid José Juan Toharia Cortés and the professor of sociology at the Autonomous University of Madrid Cristóbal Torres Albero.
