In European societies, the relationship between religion and politics is at a key historical moment. For example, in Spain, where the secularization of individuals has occurred recently and at a dizzying pace, and the secular nature of the state, declared by the 1978 Constitution, is the subject of daily semantic struggles that are, ultimately, political struggles. Furthermore, the interest lies in the fact that the relationship between religion and politics in these societies is directly and concretely affected by new social dynamics resulting from the process of globalization, such as those arising from the arrival of immigrants from societies with different religious cultures or those derived from the growing importance of religious fundamentalisms.
