Spanish translation of the book "Social Movements. An introduction", by Donatella della Porta and Mario Diani
The event took place Wednesday, 21 March, in the Complutense Historical Library "Marqués de Valdecilla" and was attended by Donatella della Porta (European University Institute), Enrique Gil Calvo (Complutense University), Susana Aguilar (Complutense University) and Eduardo Romanos (Complutense University), in addition to CIS Chairman Félix Requena, and the general director of Editorial Complutense, José Antonio Nieto.

Translated by Eduardo Romanos, starting from the original text of the second edition of 2006, the publication is part of the Social Debate collection, co-published by the Centre for Sociological Research (CIS) and the University Complutense de Madrid (UCM).
The text includes an epilogue, also by Romanos, which includes a review of some of the key discussions held in the last five years and some of the emerging challenges that researchers will have to face in the coming years. As it is an edition published in Spain, the appendix also outlines some ideas on the development of social movements in our country.
It is therefore an updated and enhanced work that is at once a general introduction and a critical analysis of collective action in society.

The work of Donatella della Porta and Mario Diani is still, today, a must for researchers, as well as an essential study for those seeking to approach the dramatic, complex and multidimensional reality of social movements for the first time: from the protests of the 1960s to the more recent feminist, peace, environmental and anti-globalisation movements.
