Biography of Francisco Murillo Ferrol

Born in Granada on 15 July 1918.
Granada University law graduate.
Postgraduate studies during the 1943-44 academic year at Freiburg University, Germany.
In 1946 he carried out his thesis "El Pensamiento Político de Francisco Suárez, SJ".
Associate lecturer at Granada University's Law Faculty in 1947.
In 1952 he became professor of political law at Valencia University.
Director of the "Luis Vives" hall of residence.
In 1954 he was professor of sociology at the University of Valencia.
In 1957 he received the Alfonso X el Sabio Academy Prize for his book "Saavedra Fajardo y la política del Barroco".
In 1958 he continued his studies at Cologne University.
In 1961 he was professor of political law at Granada University.
In 1962 he attended Columbia University as a visiting scholar at the International Education Institute.
He was professor of Contemporary Political Organisation Theory and Systems at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid.
In 1974 he became director of the Instituto de la Opinión Pública (today, the CIS).
He was director of the Centro de Estudios Constitucionales from 1980 to 1982.
Founder of the Asociación Española de Ciencia Política.
He received an honorary doctorate from Granada University in 1984.
In 1987 he was appointed professor emeritus at the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid.
He was elected as a member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in 1997.
