The CIS not only takes surveys but also collects information about Spanish society through qualitative research studies: Fundamentally, discussion groups and in-depth interviews.

Qualitative research studies play a very important role in the initial stages of research as they help to identify changes in the social perception of the subjects to be researched. These studies are likewise important for interpreting some research results attained through surveys.
