The Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas conducts a variety of programmes designed to stimulate and encourage research in the field of social sciences.
The Training Scholarships programmes for young researchers in the field of social sciences is designed to help train professionals in the production and analysis of statistical data. During their stay at the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas , the scholarship holders gain firsthand knowledge, right from the start, of the processes involved in the production and development of statistical data in a quantitative research project. This process begins with the initial idea of how the social situation to be studied will be approached and outlined. It continues with a variety of different operations, such as designing the questionnaire, data coding and data quality verification, and it concludes with the publication of the results.
The Research Grants programmes subsidise research projects that contribute to scientific analysis of Spanish society.
Apart from these subsidy activities, the Centre has also developed its own programmes for training researchers in methods and techniques for applied social research. In 1991 a Postgraduate Course was inaugurated for specialist training in applied social research and data analysis, aimed at technicians and professionals within the private business sector (companies and public opinion institutes) and researchers in the field of social sciences.
Other activities designed to promote and stimulate research include participation in conferences, seminars, symposiums and other events organised to disseminate scientific developments. Finally, the Centre participates in most of the principal national and international scientific associations within its field of action:
